At the end of the series, when Light.... loses all sense of sanity and honor.... he dies.

I wonder one thing:

Ryuuk said he cannot go to "heaven or hell". Does this mean:

1. Light went into nothingness
2. Light became a shinigami.

I personally think it's number 2 because of when Light said in chapter 5, if he had the eyes and wings, he'd be a shinigami. Then ryuuk does that pause of his with his sinister smile. I can only assume that is what happens.

What's your take?
"People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define "reality". But what does it mean to be "correct" or "true"? Merely vague concepts ... their "reality" may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world, shaped by their beliefs?"

but he never said he would be a shinigami
i think he goes to the nothingness
becuase when they have the book and lose it they lose there memories about it.
i think when they would be a shinigami they would not forget.

See, I thought so too. But you're talking about when their on the earth plane. What if they die?
