The first manga I read was of course NARUTO! It's very popular and everybody is watching it. I want to read ahead of the tv show that's why I'm hooked in reading manga. The chapter that made me so addicted in reading NARUTO was this chapter:

It was in this chapter that the akatsuki had its first visit at Konoha.
The first manga I read was Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, I believe. I was wandering about in my library when I made it to the graphic novel section. It was in... 6th grade I believe. After that, I became pretty obsessed. That's about the time I began drawing manga-style as well.
Mine was Saint Seya, I still read it from time to time (I got the whole collection for memory sake), and it is so impressive to see how the drawings evolved in mangas. I still remember my cousin showing me the anime of Saint Seya and me thinking it was boring, then she gave me my first manga and I haven't stopped since .
my first manga ever was fruits basket ^_^ loved it
wow fruit basket .. that is one of my favorites :D
First off to the quoted:
I looked that up at my local SunCoast store AGES ago when they were still in Business. (before they were bought out) I just couldn't get used to drawings :( But when the anime came out I snatched that up QUICKLY. The anime is VERY FUNNY. Am I missing out by not reading the manga?
As the the original question, to be honest it's been a loooong ride. I was first interested in manga / anime when I was in highschool around sophmore year. then I fell away from em because I got interested in HL2 and CSS (video games) but then came back after I had my fill of those about 6 months before I started college. So the first thing that I ever did Japanese wise was I watched Ruroni Kenshin and Love Hina animes.... continuously lol. So I guess the first manga I read really was Love Hina as I wanted to see if the anime was everything the manga had to say. Then I moved on to bleach, naruto, etc. etc.
Soooo sorry for the life story but i guess the answer is love hina ^_^
~mine is crayon shin chan xD the very first ever.
I read part of it but never finished it...then I read Naruto. I'd consider one of those two to be the first I've read.
