I am up to date with the manga, but I am also interested in watching the anime (skipping filler of course and in Japanese) but I was wondering if the anime butchered the manga at all or in any parts.

well it just does what most manga oriented anime do and is make the blood, swearing, and nudity very low and even not put it in to take out part of the storyline, now i'm just talking in general but in Naruto after ep 88 they took out the swearing in the anime, did you notice how they don't any more like they used to every ep before hand? Also they try to make it for younger audiences as well so less suspense and serious tone to moral codes with in the story, not much in Nsruto but yeah, that's what i find they take out with mangas turned into animes and its for pretty much all anime, that why i prefer manga, nothing is cut from it.
