i think it because of 2 main point
1 Depends on the series/actors. for instance i love the anime beck. but it's way better subbed than dub cause it flows better. but i like outlaw star dub rather than sub cause the voice actors are dynamic.

2 voice actor variety. sadley we've all heard the funimation line up of voices a bit to much, so the somewhat lack of new talent makes dubs boreing and stale since we've heard that voice like a million times.
it take an idiot to do cool things thats why it cool

I like sub more because of this-I was watching Hetalia and sometimes the English voice actors talked very fast at one part or what they said did not make much sense because what they wanted to say could not fit for that moment because the picture changed. I figured it is simply because the Japanese talk faster than Americans and it fits the Japanese talking! So I do not like dubs that much; I always watch subs, however.

It depends on the anime...like DBZ, i would prefer dubs because cant really take the japanese voice for goku xP and subs for animes like naruto xD Naruto's voice is annoying in english xP

Haha, yeah depends.

Rurouni Kenshin Spanish dubs I like by far more than the others (Not the one from spain though).

Cowboy bebop, havent heard the sub version but I dont think I would trade it in for the dub one.

Other than that pokemon/dragon ball/yugioh etc.. are some good examples of some good dubs.

Yeah depends

Dubs like pokemon/digimon/yugioh..etc. are fine but subs are better and then you get odd one where is the subs are.....lets say you get a WTF moment but the dubs are like YEAH

you know what I mean?

When they try and translate Japanese to English and fit it to the speech pattern things do get pretty wonky. I have to say subtitles sure help my Japanese language learning.

Generally, I don't like the dubs. It's like it takes the culture out of the anime. It sounds really weird in English and unnatural most of the time.

However, as some people have mentioned, some dubs were really good:

DBZ
Pokemon (the first season 'cause I hate the other seasons)
Yu Yu Hakusho
pretty much all of Hayao Miyazaki's films

In these anime, I like to watch the dub more than the sub. Mostly because Kurama sounds like a girl and sometimes in Miyazaki's films they get people with different English accents (like Princess Monoke)

I have to agree with you. I've gotten so used to subtitles I feel the need to have them even when I'm watching movies in English! Ah, I'm being brainwashed... and liking it!
